Capital punishment for the rapists demanded everywhere in Bangladesh

2,500 million tons of coal reserves of Bangladesh would remain unused forever if strong decision does not come out

In Bangladesh, the situation with coal mining has reached such a state that the major portion of the estimated 2,500 million tons of coal reserves of the country would, apparently, remain unused forever. In view of the recent developments about the use of renewable energy, the non-renewable ones such as that of coal are most likely to become irrelevant within the next five decades. However, its use for power generation has negative impacts, but still coal remains the best available and cheap source of energy. The extraction of ample amount of coal from its own underground deposits for use largely depends on firm political decisions. Researchers, leaders of civil society already have finished their talking over the matters related to coal-extraction. Not only that the policy makers know that what might to happen while the coal extraction starts at coal mine areas. Environmentalists have already opined that the experience might not be good. The people living in and around the coal mine areas, perhaps fall into danger and threat from the extraction activities. Actually, policy makers have for long been caught up in a dilemma as their extraction concerned. The country would have to use expensive fuel oil or imported coal to produce a greater volume of electricity in the coming days against the backdrop of its fast depleting gas reserves. The coal deposit is more enough to meet the demand of domestic need for over 30 years. In this way we see, emphasizes are given on coal extraction for decades after decades, The intelligentsia, the civil society, people along with the academicians are crying for rapid solving the burning question. In the past also, policy makers as well as experts expressed identical views. However, the situation on the ground has remained more or less unchanged. However, there would be a feasibility study that is expected to take into account the issues, including rehabilitation of the people to be affected by the new method of mining and disbursement of compensation money. However, nothing can be more frustrating if imported coal is used for power generation, keeping the country's own coal deposits unexploited. This is particularly so because the days are not far off when conventional or fossil fuel would hardly be used for power generation in the context of the fast developments on uses of renewable energy sources at relatively low costs. On the other hand, the vested quarters strive to import coal from other countries instead of lifting it from their own reserves. The energy experts are opining that steps in this regard is essential that can save the existence of the people of the country.
