Capital punishment for the rapists demanded everywhere in Bangladesh

Bangladesh inaugurates 3 more mega projects in this year

Shamsul Basunia

Bangladesh government is going to launch three more mega projects including Padma bridge this year. The Padma Bridge is nearly at the end of completion. The government wants to provide the necessary funds to carry out the work of the projects properly.

However, they are being given priority in the Annual Development Program (ADP) of FY 2022-23 so that the projects which are nearing the end of implementation do not fall into financial crisis and also important projects are implemented properly.

Along with these three communication projects, the mega projects of the government are getting big allocation in the next financial year. However, as most of the projects are nearing completion, the allocation pressure on these projects is less than before.

A section of Metrorail to Agargaon in the capital is scheduled to be opened by next December. The Bangabandhu Tunnel, built along the bottom of the Karnafuli River, is scheduled to open in October. And just a month later, the dream Padma Bridge is scheduled to be inaugurated at the end of June.

In the meantime, the Planning Commission has finalized the draft allocation for various projects. The new ADP is coming up for approval in the National Economic Council on Tuesday. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to preside over it.

It is learned that transport, health, education, power and housing sectors are getting top priority in the new ADP.

Planning Minister MA Mannan told the media, "If mega projects are launched, the country's economy will go a long way." This is a great achievement of the government. Some of these are nearing the end. So the allocation pressure on them is also decreasing. But every important project will get the necessary allocation. '

Priority projects are Padma Bridge, Metro Rail, Rail Link to Padma Bridge, Rooppur Nuclear Power Station, Matarbari Power Station, Payra Seaport, Karnafuli Tunnel (Bangabandhu Tunnel), Bangabandhu Rail Bridge and ' Track construction 'project.

Eid celebrated in Bangladesh amidst miseries

In Bangladesh Muslim community celebrates  Eid-ul-Fitr on Tuesday amidst acute high-priced commodities. The lower class-people almost deprives in getting peace as the commodities are sold at very high-price. They have lost  purchasing capacity to buy commonalities. During the Eid-prayers rainy water pours which wet the devotees. As a result, people including women and children  can't move at will and almost all people remain confined at homes.

What bam fish indicates & what we should to do

Shamsul Basunia

Bam fish in South Asia is known as very nutritious food. It is as delicious as tasteful to Bengalese. Though Bam is usually found mingled within mud in river or lake waters. It is found abundantly countries like Bangladesh, West Bengal of India, Vietnam, Cambodia and Myanmar. Bam is very neat and clean to look at. There is no sign of mud in it though it lives in mud. People in these countries are as like as the bam fish. They commit sins, offense or injustices randomly; but appear in the society as like as bam fish. Nobody can watch them as they are involved into sins & offenses.  Consequently, mass people think they are advanced portion of the humans living in the society. As a result, the most insincere, notorious and dishonest people can get opportunity to flourish themselves. Every sin and offense of them gradually change into as if virtues. Mass people is misguided and miss-led in this way and they become prey of derailment. The honest people like Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam always recommended the next generation to follow the footprint of the iconic personalities who earned name and fame with social or state status. We should nurture us on line of honesty and simplicity so that people of all classes can easily define what is right and what is wrong. Actually moral is the key point of every human and he or she should maintain him or her accordingly. Moral always remains seated on driving seat.

Netanyahu quarantined after aide contracts Covid-19

SHAMSUL BASUNIA

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been placed under quarantine after an aide tested positive for Covid-19, his office said on Monday. The premier met with Paluch on Thursday, during negotiations over the formation of a new unity government with rival Benny Gantz. Israel on March 9 closed its airport to most foreign arrivals, with exceptions for those who could meet strict quarantine requirements. The country and its nearly 9 million people are currently under strict lockdown, with only essential movements permitted.
Israeli-occupied West Bank is under a similar lockdown, though confirmed cases remain lower at 106. Gaza Strip has seen nine cases so far, but even those are cause for local panic, as the territory has one of the highest population densities in the world and a healthcare system hollowed out after years of conflict and blockades.
The UN envoy for the Middle East Peace Process on Thursday acknowledged that Israel has been allowing healthcare workers involved in the virus response to move in and out of the West Bank and Gaza, and for critical medical supplies to enter the Strip.

Trump urges Security Council to take strong and swift action stopping the Rohingya crisis

US President Donald Trump urges UN Security Council to take “strong and swift action” to bring Myanmar’s Rohingya crisis to an end, US vice president Mike Pence said on Wednesday, calling the
violence there a threat to the region and beyond.
Pence, speaking at a Security Council meeting on peacekeeping reform, accused the Myanmar military of responding to militant attacks on government outposts “with terrible savagery, burning villages, driving the Rohingya from their homes.”
Pence repeated a US call for the Myanmar military to end the violence immediately and support diplomatic efforts for a long-term solution.
President Trump and I also call on the Security Council of the United Nations to take strong and swift action to bring this crisis to an end and bring hope and help to the Rohingya people in their hour of need, Pence said.
His remarks were the strongest yet from the US government in response to the violence in Myanmar’s western state of Rakhine that began last month and has forced 422,000 Rohingya Muslims into Bangladesh, fleeing a military offensive the United Nations has branded ethnic cleansing.

Pence called the violence and the “historic exodus” of Rohingya, including tens of thousands of children, a “great tragedy.”

Hundreds of thousands of Rohingyas had fled in fear of their lives

Bangladesh has extended all possible assistance to the Rohingyas, given the violence and persecution unleashed on the community in Myanmar. Hundreds of thousands of Rohingyas had fled in fear of their lives from their homeland into Bangladesh. However, the international community has not reacted as it should have to the ethnic cleansing and the genocide being carried out in Myanmar. At the UN Security Council meet on Wednesday, the oppression of the Rohingyas was condemned and a call was made to halt the atrocities. The situation has reached such proportions, that it is not enough to merely condemn and issue statements.
It is clear that the Myanmar government has adopted a policy of ethnic cleansing against the Rohingyas. The Rohingyas are being driven from the country in a planned manner. This is an international crime, according to the UN Charter and other such charters. Already 400,000 Rohingyas had been sheltering in Bangladesh and now another 370,000 or more have been added. It is unfortunate that Bangladesh for no reason at all, it having to bear the burden of this burgeoning number of refugees. And yet here is no effective initiative being taken against Myanmar for this international crime.
As Myanmar has failed to provide its citizens with security and a certain ethnic community is victims of genocide, the international community including the UN must take responsibility to protect them. The Bangladesh government has highlighted the situation to the ambassadors of various countries and heads of international agencies. The international community is well aware of what is taking place there. The UN secretary general Antonio Guterres himself has termed this ‘ethnic cleansing’.

The Myanmar government itself had formed an international commission to look into the problems of the Arakan state. If the recommendations of that commission, headed by former UN secretary general Kofi Annan, were followed, then the Rohingya problems would be resolved to a great degree. The international community now must force Myanmar into implementing those recommendations. Bangladesh’s prime minister has proposed a separate safe zone for the Rohingyas. With astute and proper diplomatic handling of the situation, it will not be too difficult to resolve the crisis.

A different Eid festivity celebration

 // Shamsul Basunia //

A very different Eid-ul-Fitr has been celebrated at Rangamati – the area that experienced one of the worst series of landslides in a decade just couple of days earlier leaving 120 people dead in Bangladesh. The district officials have scrapped all their official programs to spend time with the landslide victims who have taken refuge in the local shelter homes. In Sunamganj and Netrokona flush flood damaged the standing corns that are the principal food stuff in those areas. In this way the fervor of Eid festivity on Monday with much enthusiasm and religious fervor has been vaporized this year.
Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies, including police and Rapid Action Battalion RAB, have taken additional security measures across the country on the occasion to avert any untoward incident. Volatile atmosphere remains in other areas of the globe like Palestine, Mosul of Iraq, many places of Syria, Kashmir, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Tens of thousands people became homeless. War-mongers pushed the millions to the peril. The largest Muslim festivity failed to bring happiness and peace to them. Month long fasting visited them but they in most of the cases didn’t enable to achieve piety and heavenly attributes. Hunger, uncertainty, fear of battle and imposed war make them unhappy.
In non-predominant Muslim countries like Britain and France are also spending the days in fear and panic. Militancy engulfs mental peace there.
War on militancy is not running in right direction. US administration has already divided the power of unity in Muslim world that imbued several Middle East countries to take preparation to wage war against Qatar. It is mention-able that the Korean peninsula has become hotbed of war where battle might visit at any time in future.  America always instigates for war there.

Daughter of beauty ‘Shimul’ disappearing

//Shamsul Basunia//
‘Shimul’ is disappearing day by day for not nurturing and nourishing it carefully. People know it is the only tree which produces cotton to humans and people could able to use it in mattress, cushion where we usually sleep and sit on. It is so important to civilization and day to day life that it always goes on beyond imagination. It beautifies the nature while it blooms and people call it “daughter of beauty”. Reddish and pink color attracts people and it enchants them. Actually the scene informs people that spring comes. People even the agriculture department don’t do anything to preserve the valuable trees. Locals in Sadarpur upazila under Faridpur district alleged a section of political leaders came forward to cut the trees and the beauty of the nature is now nearing to zero. Agriculture department even cotton development board is silent to flourish the product. The elite opined if governments comes forward to protect and preserve the valuable cotton trees the demand of cotton in our country could be met and the balance of ecology could be survived.  ‘And cotton industry could be saved from threat of destruction’, they added.
