Houthis started to make abduct political
opponents in Yemen. Mohammed Qahtan, the 57-year-old leader of the Islah party
was arrested on April 4, and his family has not been informed about where he is
being held or on what grounds, he is being detained
Finally, Iran, Saudi Arabia does not achieve profits from the
civil war in Yemen. Both the countries intended to draw international attention
but failed to do the same as no country responded to their clarion call. Only
the warmongers USA and Russia began to sell weapons to the warring parties
exist in the country.
Despite of Saudi constant airstrikes, the overthrown Saleh forces were not able to advance more. They remained concentrating within and around the port city of Aden near the Saudi frontier. On the other hand, Houthi forces became a regular force dressed with certain uniforms, trained by Iranian commanders and though they are mentally and psychologically Shiates.
Sunni
forces are composed of soldiers, who are tribal, the Salafists, Muslim
Brotherhood and Al-Qaeda supporting people. These irregular forces are
supported by Saudi Arabia. Comparatively the Saudi supported forces are weaker
than the Iran supported forces. Iran is separated with Yemen by geography while
Saudi Arabia is attached with Yemen and next-door neighbor. As it has no so
powerful land forces, so it cannot conquer the lost areas especially the
capital city Sana along with the vast territories.
The
ground intervention scenario has eliminated as Pakistan and Egypt refused
to participate. Thus, Saudi Arabia settled for airstrikes, which cannot
guarantee winning the battle, at least not in the short term.
On
the contrary, Iran did not earn any victory over the overall battle that might
bring the international support. Iran now has to settle for one party, the
Houthis, who will remain its ally, despite all of its expansion attempts. A US
warship stopped an Iranian ship loaded with weapons near the coast of
Yemen on April 20.
Virtually,
Iran has lost diplomatically and politically while Saudi Arabia succeeded with
the passing of UN Resolution 2216, which is
issued in favor of its military intervention. Saudi Arabia was able
to neutralize Russia and bring down its project, which aimed at seeking
equality between the Houthis and Saleh on the one hand, and the
Saudi-supported military forces on the other.
Saudi
Arabia is looking for a way to get out of the military impasse, while Iran is
seeking to use the political situation to its advantage. Meanwhile, a political
settlement remains hard to reach in Yemen, as the state institutions collapsed
and social conditions have deteriorated because of the civil war.
However,
the mass people of Yemen do not like civil war and they desire an end to the war
but no initiatives yet take for that. Civil society calls for peace and
stability in the war-torn country making no delay.
Nearly 1900 people have been killed in Yemen and Saudi-led coalition began to strike air assault against the Houthi forces, Since 2014, March the battle has been carried out though the Saudi ground forces are not seen to fight against the Houthis.
Yemen has been in a civil war
since 2014, when Houthi militants, the country’s primary opposition party,
took control over large parts of the country. Houthis took
over the nation’s capital of Sanaa, forcing Hadi to flee
to Saudi Arabia.
